March is Arizona Youth Arts Month and one local singer is making her mark. Harmony Scheirmann (stage name simply, Harmony) literally sang before she could speak. Her name was initially a reference to “peace and harmonyâ€. Who knew it would forecast her life?
At the age of six, when she was slow of speech, music gave her a voice. Music and the arts fostered an intelligent and talented woman. Harmony is now a self taught singer, songwriter and performer. When asked, she always proclaims, “As a child, I had trouble verbally expressing myself. I was also bullied because of my Attention Deficit Disorder. But that all turned around during my first music class. I found myself!â€
Harmony (now seventeen)is one of the first artists to perform in the recently renamed Vista Center for the Arts Theatre in Arizona. Her newest song, “Grow Up†documents young love and the need to be patient as we age into adulthood.
During the past week, her song has surpassed a thousand views on Facebook alone. It’s obviously speaking to her audience and the local lovers of her music.
