By Lisa Padilla - Tuesday May 19, 2020
Mayor Anna Tovar, in collaboration with Senator Lupe Contreras, Representative Diego Espinoza, and Representative Lorenzo Sierra, secured COVID-19 testing for essential workers in Tolleson. They remain steadfast to bring about solutions and partnerships to address issues of community health and continue to advocate for additional tests. To that end, Valle del Sol will conduct COVID-19 testing for Tolleson essential workers including those at JBS. “The City of Tolleson is home to thousands of essential workers who need convenient testing and I will continue to form partnerships and collaborate with organizations to bring much-needed testing opportunities to our community,” stated Mayor Anna Tovar.

“Valle del Sol is proud to partner with the City of Tolleson to provide essential worker COVID-19 Testing,” says Valle del Sol CEO, Carmen Heredia. “Essential workers will need to be tested regularly to ensure the safety of public health. Testing has been something we started doing early on, as we were one of the agencies selected to participate in the statewide COVID Blitz.”.

“Over the course of the next two days, we will be offering more than 200 testing opportunities to essential workers in Tolleson. Equitable access to testing is important, which is why Valle del Sol has committed to setting up mobile testing in areas such as city housing complexes and fire stations. We will continue to make ourselves available as long as our community is requesting testing.”

Testing for Tolleson Field Operations and Utilities departments will take place Thursday, May 21st, and Friday, May 22nd at the Tolleson Fire Department. To observe privacy rights testing areas will only be open to patients. *NOTE: Valle del Sol will not be conducting antibody testing at this time. This test will only determine if a patient is currently positive for COVID-19.

Pursuant to the ultimate goal of universal testing, Public Safety tests are currently being scheduled. Additional tests for the entire organization will be administered accordingly immediately upon acquisition. In the meantime, all individuals that need to be tested should visit http://www.azdhs.gov for testing sites provided by the Arizona Department of Health Services.
