Urban Farm Hosts 20th Annual Pop-Up Fruit Tree Nursery in Phoenix
By Elizabeth Parra - Wednesday Feb 05, 2020
(PHOENIX) – The Urban Farm is excited to announce dates for its fruit tree pop-up nursery event as part of its annual Fruit Tree Program. Thousands of trees are set to arrive in Phoenix and are ripe for picking. Shoppers can choose from an incredible selection of deciduous in January and early February, including apples, peaches, apricots, plums, figs, pomegranates, olives, mulberries, grapes and berries.

“Did you know you can go into every big box store and some nurseries and they will sell you a fruit tree that will never make fruit? This is the reason I started my fruit tree program, so you can trust that investing your money time and water will turn into a fruitful endeavor.” says owner, Greg Peterson. “I hand select and have grown out trees that will provide food for decades to come.”

The Fruit Tree Program has helped to both educate the public on urban farming and has grown a significant amount of food in Phoenix over the last two decades, helping to feed the community. The program has sold more than 50,000 trees since inception in 1999. In doing the math, in the Urban Farm’s Fruit Tree Program, 50,000 trees have produced over 4 million pounds of fruit spanning 20 years.
