Local Businessman and Nonprofit Founder Chats With Students About Business Advice From His Book, Solid Ground
On Jan. 5, Tom Lewis, award-winning entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of the T.W. Lewis Company (the #1 luxury homebuilder in the country) spoke with students at Gilbert Christian High School about business tips from his book, Solid Ground: A Foundation for Winning in Work and Life.



In his speech to the entire school of approximately 500 students, he touched on topics such as the difference between moral and performance traits, the importance of trying hard things and building resilience, setting goals, finding your talent and helping other people.



“Do not shy away from trying hard things, because if you try hard things you fail,” said Lewis in his speech. “If you fail, you get back up and try again. You do that a couple of times and ultimately you succeed, and it builds your resilience and your self-esteem.”



Lewis is an advocate for education for teens and young adults. In addition to speaking with and supporting local Christian high schools, he is also the founder of the Lewis Honors College at the University of Kentucky.
