“Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic, we were able to shift our 43rd annual awards ceremony and hosted our first-ever virtual Emmys event, which went off without a hitch and record-breaking viewership,” Mummert said.

The virtual event took place last September and included the Rocky Mountain Student Production Awards, featuring both high school and college student nominees. Those receiving awards represented more than a dozen different schools across the region. The two-plus hour Emmy event included an array of local and national media speakers, as well as messages of gratitude to those stories submitted this year.

The official call for entries for this year’s Rocky Mountain Emmys will begin on March 29 and go through April 25. Members of the broadcast media can enter online at http://www.rockymountainemmy.org. This year, there are several new categories including Health/Medical, Promotional Trailer and Technical Achievement. In addition, many of the other categories have been divided into news and non-news content to make for the most fair and healthy competition. The Awards Committee will be holding a series of "Emmy Roadshows" in the coming weeks to answer questions. Meanwhile, current members can renew now to save on their membership at http://www.emmyexpress.com/membership_login/#/2. Rates are $75 until the end of February and will increase to $99 starting March 1 for a 2021 membership.

Additionally, nominations for the 2021 Gold and Silver Circle award are open till January 31. Individuals selected for induction are the best and brightest in the industry. Ideal candidates will also have extensive public service, mentoring, leadership and professional accolades. Click here to nominate.
