Tempe Diablos Partners with Arizona State University for Second Annual Tennis Invitational

The Tempe Diablos and Arizona State University Men’s Tennis have partnered for the second annual Diablo College Tennis Invitational presented by Dan Treon Law. The tournament on March 1-3, will feature eight of the nation’s top men’s college tennis teams. The teams will play a round-robin style tournament at Kiwanis Tennis Center in Tempe, located at 6111 S. All America Way.

The Diablos Tennis Invitational will be a thrilling, high-level event that will provide an exciting tennis experience to fans of all ages and familiarity with the sport. The style and degree of tennis at the college level is fast-paced and energetic. The team component will provide an unmatched environment where sports fans can unite and vigorously root for their favorite players.
“This outstanding partnership combines ASU Tennis’ national prestige with the Tempe Diablos’ deep civic and charitable involvement to create a strong and prestigious tournament,” said Greg Garcia, Tempe Diablos President. “The Diablos Tennis Invitational is a thrilling, high-level event that will provide an exciting tennis experience to fans of all ages and tennis knowledge. With limited tennis options in Metro Phoenix, the tournament will deliver an experience that is under-supplied and much needed in our community.”

The first tournament will take place from Friday, March 1 to Sunday, March 3. Teams competing include Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Grand Canyon University, Michigan, Michigan State University, Boise State University, Liberty and Virginia Commonwealth University.

The match schedule is as follows:
• March 1: Session 1 (1 p.m.) Session 2 (5 p.m.)
• March 2: Session 2 (1 p.m.) Session 2 (5 p.m.)
• March 3: Session 3 (10 a.m.) Session 2 (1 p.m.)

General admission tickets are $10, and food, beverages, including alcohol, and merchandise will be sold on-site by a variety of local restaurant operators, food trucks, and vendors.

“My goal has always been to build a team that leads collegiate tennis across the nation,” said Mathew Hill, ASU Men’s Tennis coach. “The goal of this event is to make Arizona a top destination for collegiate-level tennis while also making a meaningful impact in our communities. I’m thrilled to show the Valley what Arizona State University Men’s Tennis team can do in this sport.”

Proceeds from the events will go directly to the Tempe Diablos and Tempe Diablos Charities, the preeminent civic organization for the stewardship of impactful programs benefiting youth, and education in the Tempe community.
