REDW Announces Expansion into Pacific Northwest, Merges in Grove, Mueller & Swank, P.C.
By Alison Bailin - Monday Dec 04, 2023
REDW Advisors and CPAs proudly announces that Oregon-based tax and accounting firm Grove, Mueller & Swank, P.C. (GMS) has joined with REDW effective December 1, 2023. GMS will become REDW’s first office in the Pacific Northwest, joining award-winning teams with boots on the ground in Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Oklahoma City, and virtual team members worldwide.

“As a nimble, growth-oriented firm, we are regularly looking for opportunities. Prior to this expansion into Oregon, our established office in Phoenix grew to more than 100 team members through a similar acquisition in 2022,” said Steve Cogan, REDW Managing Principal. “Over the past 40 years, Grove, Mueller & Swank has provided quality service and innovative solutions to its clients, growing into one of the region’s most respected accounting, tax, and consulting firms. Likeminded in our approaches to service, clients, and our team members, REDW and GMS are a perfect cultural fit.”

Through the transition, the Oregon firm will remain at its long-time address of 475 Cottage Street NE, Suite 200 in Salem. GMS leadership and employees will continue in their current roles. Clients will not experience service disruption and the brand transition will occur over the next several months.

“The decision to align with REDW was based on several criteria, including our likeminded approach to service and culture. We are especially excited about the partnership as it will allow us to serve our clients more holistically, offering a full breadth of solutions including cybersecurity, HR consulting, and even wealth management from a deep bench of leading in-house experts,” said John Hawkins, GMS Shareholder and Chairman of the Board.

“Having dedicated over 40 years to serving and advocating for Sovereign Tribal Nations, many Tribes know the strong reputation of REDW and the value we provide,” said Wesley Ryan Benally (Dine’) CPA, REDW Principal and National Tribal Practice Leader. “And with a notable portion of our clients already residing in the Pacific Northwest region, the idea of having a team on the ground in Oregon became very important to us.”

This significant expansion comes during a transformative time for REDW, recently named among INSIDE Public Accounting’s “Top 200 Accounting Firms” and the firm’s wealth management practice listed among Financial Advisor Magazine’s “Top Registered Independent Advisors.” Celebrating its milestone 70th anniversary in 2023 and preparing to move its Albuquerque office to a new 25,000-square-foot space in 2024, REDW has made the entrepreneurial commitment to remain a significant, relevant, and independent firm with an eye on the future—creating a digital-first culture that is responsive to the current risk environment and the adoption of technology tools such as AI; developing employment models based on hybrid work environments; and offering strategic services ranging from cybersecurity and gaming advisory to HR consulting and comprehensive financial planning.

“We do not work in a silo, and neither do our clients,” said Cogan. “We recognize that every client, large or small, has individual needs. Therefore, we offer not just tax, accounting and audit services, but a full suite of solutions to assist our clients throughout the lifecycles of their organizations and financial journeys. With this exciting expansion into the Pacific Northwest, REDW remains committed to making positive, meaningful impacts in our communities and in the lives of our clients and team members.”
