Record-Breaking KTAR & Arizona Sports Give-A-Thon Raises Over $2.16 Million for Phoenix Children’s
By Claire Natale - Wednesday Aug 30, 2023
The 15th annual Phoenix Children’s Give-A-Thon, hosted by KTAR News 92.3 FM and Arizona’s Sports 98.7 FM and presented by Valley Hyundai Dealers and AK-Chin Indian Community raised an astonishing $2,168,483 last week. The week-long event took place Aug. 14-18 and allowed communities across Arizona to donate and support world-class care at Phoenix Children’s. The KTAR & Arizona Sports Give-A-Thon is the nation’s largest and most successful radiothon of its kind.

All proceeds generated will directly benefit Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund, which finances resources including cutting-edge, new medical equipment and state-of-the-art technology.

“It is incredible to see $2.16 million raised through powerful storytelling that inspires our generous community to step up for the kids in Arizona.” said Ryan Hatch, SVP/Market Manager Bonneville Phoenix. “We are so grateful for our caring audiences, sponsors, team partners, and the hundreds of volunteers for their wonderful support of Give-A-Thon.”

This year’s Give-A-Thon was the first to return to Phoenix Children’s Thomas Campus since 2019. Previous and current patients gathered in the transformed cafeteria to tell their stories, accompanied by Arizona Cardinals cheerleaders, Big Red, former hockey player Shane Doan, volunteers, and more.

“Give-A-Thon is a testament to the way this community believes in Phoenix Children’s,” said Steve Schnall, Phoenix Children’s senior vice president and chief development officer. “KTAR, Arizona Sports and the many sponsors of this event help us reach the Valley with stories of incredible kids who have been helped by Phoenix Children’s. Every dollar given makes a difference, and this year we were once again able to see the generosity of people add up to meaningful and impactful support of Phoenix Children’s.”
Listeners were encouraged to become a Champion of Hope with a monthly gift of $20 or a one-time gift of $240. Those who signed up as Champions of Hope gifted teddy bears in their name to existing Phoenix Children’s patients. Gifting is a chance to leave a lasting imprint and continues to be a symbol of hope for all the children and families at Phoenix Children’s.

Give-A-Thon is made possible thanks to corporate sponsors: Your Valley Hyundai Dealers, Ak-Chin Indian Community, Ace Hardware, Carl's Jr., Mattamy Homes, Presidential Pools & Spas, TRANE Heating & Cooling, The UPS Stores, Yrefy, American Textile Recycling Services, Angry Crab Shack, AZ Kidz Experience, Cliff Castle Casino Hotel, Discover Financial Services, Oregano's, Panda Express, Papa John's Pizza, Toll Brothers, Inc., Walgreens and Walmart.
