Pita Jungle Partners with Chef Erick Pineda for an Evening of Blended Cuisines
By Erica Shipione - Monday Oct 16, 2023
Arizona-based restaurant group Pita Jungle is proud to announce a special collaboration with local chef and owner of the beloved Mexican pop-up restaurant Requinto, Erick Pineda. The culinary event with a one-night-only menu of blended cuisines will take place on Friday, November 3, at the Pita Jungle downtown location at 1001 N. 3rd Ave in Phoenix, during the electric first Friday of the month.

The pop-up event will feature a limited-time menu created by Chef Pineda, thoughtfully incorporating Pita Jungle’s philosophy ‘The Art of Eating Healthy,’ which is present throughout the collaborative fare. Guests will experience dishes using ingredients and flavors pulled from both the Mediterranean cuisine Pita Jungle is famous for, and from Pineda’s family’s home state of Guerrero, Mexico, where he draws his inspiration from in the kitchen.

“It’s really exciting to be able to do a collaboration with Pita Jungle, as they are a locally-owned giant in the Valley,” says Requinto Founder and Chef Erick Pineda. “The menu is going to consist of some Mediterranean and Mexican fusion dishes and some regional dishes from Guerrero. I am very excited to bring this menu to life and to be able to represent my culture in my city.”

The menu will include collaborative dishes using a fusion of cuisine styles including Chorizo-flavored Hummus served with pita and Turmeric Mole using Pita Jungle’s menu favorite, woodfired cauliflower. Requinto will also be serving Chile Relleno Tacos, Acapulco Style Shrimp Cocktail, Chorizo Huarache and Elopozole soup, Guerrero-style.

“In an effort to build on our tradition of rotating locally curated art on our walls, we are exalted to show off local culinary artists through our bourgeoning pop-up kitchen,” says Bassel Osmani, co-founder of Pita Jungle. ”This time around, we are featuring a collaboration with Chef Erick Pineda that floats exquisite Guerrero specialties to our healthful Mediterranean shores.”

The pop-up menu will be available for dine-in and takeout between 6-9 p.m. at the downtown Pita Jungle location only. Pita Jungle’s full menu will also be available. Alongside the menu will be an array of boutique wines, local draughts and crafted cocktails available for guests age 21 and older.
