Pioneer Title Agency to Offer Remote Online Notarization (RON) for Arizona Real Estate Transactions at No Additional Cost and Effective Immediately

Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Governor Doug Ducey have issued an Executive Order allowing Arizonans to use Remote Online Notarization (RON), effective April 10, 2020. RON is the process of signing paperwork using audio-visual technology to appear before a notary instead of being physically present. As such, Pioneer Title Agency, which is the largest family owned title and escrow company in Arizona with over 75 offices across 13 counties statewide, is pleased to announce a full staff of trained notaries ready and able to begin offering RON for real estate transactions immediately and at no additional charge.

Signings can be done safely and securing from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, with additional times able to be scheduled as needed.

Governor Doug Ducey explained, “We are taking proactive measures to protect public health while ensuring Arizona can still take care of their essential needs. This order allows key components of business for bankers, real estate agents, legal companies, health care professionals, and much more to carry on during the COVID-19 outbreak in a safe and secure way that protects public health.”

In order to use RON, the buyer, seller, lender, underwriter and escrow support must all approve its use, which Pioneer can assist with as well. To get the process started, a RON consent form must be signed by the buyer and seller. “Like usual, only the notary and signer are required to participate, but it is possible for the escrow officer, lender, and/or agent to join the signing as well using this technological process,” says Tyler Newlon, vice president of digital closings at Pioneer Title Agency. “The notary and signer are required to have both audio and visual connections; however, the other parties may choose to join with audio/visual as well or by phone only, if desired.”
