Former Food Network's "Chopped" Champion Chef Adam Allison, owner of Handlebar Diner in Mesa, Arizona https://www.handlebardiner.com/ is offering to pack and donate boxed lunches to children in need of lunch due to mandatory closures because of the coronavirus.
Close to half a million Arizona students qualify for the National School Lunch Program (NSLBP), a federally assisted meal program because of their families' incomes, and are among the more than 20 million students nationwide who benefit from federal assistance programs, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The NSLBP provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day and is a safeguard to the health and well-being of children.
“The last thing that our kids should be worrying about is what they are going to eat for lunch.†Comments Chef Adam Allison “I am happy to be a part of the solution and providing kids with meals.â€
This is a tremendous and selfless service by Chef Adam to help protect and provide for the most vulnerable, children, who are being negatively affected in many ways during this unprecedented time of global pandemic.
