Phoenix Holocaust Association Once Again Provides Gift Cards for Caregivers; Success of First Campaign Spurs Support for Another Effort
By Autumn Jarrett - Wednesday Oct 28, 2020
In June, the Phoenix Holocaust Association (PHA) raised funds in order to provide gift cards to show its thanks and support to our community’s caregivers in assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing facilities throughout the Valley. Nearly 300 caregivers at four different senior residences received a grocery store gift card of $60. The initial campaign was supported by a grant from Albertsons Safeway and donations from the community.

PHA exceeded their initial fundraising goal and has continued to receive donations throughout the summer. As a result, another gift card donation was made to caregivers at McDowell Village in Scottsdale (8300 E McDowell Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257).

“Caregiver work in senior residences is crucial and demanding, and is typically done with great patience and respect,” said Janice Friebaum, vice president of PHA. “We are thrilled with the overwhelming support of our community and our ability to provide this token of appreciation to these essential workers.”

Michael Brown, executive director of McDowell Village, acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the caregivers on his team. “We have an amazing staff that are dedicated to ensuring our residents have the utmost care and attention,” he said. “We are grateful to the Phoenix Holocaust Association for recognizing our staff with this very generous gift.”

Volunteers with PHA presented the gift cards at a special recognition event on Tuesday, October 27.
