PHOENIX CANCER SUPPORT NETWORK PARTNERS WITH THE JOY BUS
By Lisa Padilla - Tuesday Apr 14, 2020
Phoenix Cancer Support Network (PCSN) has partnered with The Joy Bus, a nonprofit organization delivering fresh, healthful meals to homebound cancer patients within a 10-mile radius of The Joy Bus Diner -- a fully functional restaurant serving hearty, made-to-order breakfast and lunch fare from which every cent earned supports The Joy Bus Meal Delivery Program. Together, they will pilot a program specifically for PCSN clients

"The Joy Bus Meal Delivery Program is about so much more than a meal. It's about compassion, it's about community, and it's about finding the JOY in food." - Jennifer Caraway, Joy Bus Founder and Executive Director.

“PCSN is extremely grateful to The Joy Bus for allowing us to provide their fresh, specially curated meals to our clients. We are excited to help expand The Joy Bus’s reach to even more cancer patients in Arizona.” –Jenny Martin, Founder and CEO.

One of the ways PCSN supports their clients is by providing FREE assistance and care to clients and their families while they are undergoing cancer treatment. A big part of that is meal delivery service. As a nonprofit organization, PCSN strives to remove some of the daily burdens that can become overwhelming obstacles to cancer patients and their families. PCSN is hoping to expand the current radius for meal delivery in order to widen support and help more clients in the valley.

Since its inception in 2017, PCSN has served over 200 clients in various capacities. They are in need of volunteers to deliver meals to clients outside of the current 10-mile radius. Each meal will be prepared right before delivery time, and an additional meal can be provided for live-in caretakers. PCSN will begin with a preliminary run of five volunteers delivering to five clients. Volunteers interested in lending a hand can contact PCSN at [email protected].

Phoenix Cancer Support Network is a local nonprofit organization that is dedicated to providing free support, assistance, advocacy and guidance to those undergoing cancer treatment. Founded in 2017, they assist clients with the various daily tasks that accompany a cancer diagnosis. PCSN services include meal support, transportation to medical appointments, housekeeping, second opinions, collating medical records, financial support and even dog walking.

The Joy Bus is passionately dedicated to improving the quality of life of homebound cancer patients and aiding in their healing process by providing fresh, medically-tailored meals, an extensive support system, and nutrition education at NO COST to the client.
