One Step Beyond Receives Equipment Donation from Bauer Hockey
By Marissa Baker - Thursday Aug 13, 2020
One Step Beyond, Inc. (OSBI), the leading provider of innovative education programs for intellectually disabled adults in Phoenix, Ariz., San Mateo and San Carlos, Calif. received a hockey equipment donation from Bauer Hockey, Inc. through the American Special Hockey Association. The $5,000 in-kind donation will dress five players for the 2020/2021 season.

“Bauer is a leading manufacturer of ice hockey equipment,” said One Step Beyond Special Programs Developer Jared Woosley. “To have them as a partner means the world to our team. The recent pandemic has our season on hold but the players are still working on their skills and looking forward to getting back on the ice. The donation is a light in these uncertain times.”

The One Step Beyond Ice Hockey Program began in 2016 with the goal of providing the opportunity for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities to enjoy the sport of ice hockey. The program puts into action the National Hockey League directive that hockey is for everyone.

“Special hockey players are the unexpected champions,” said Jennifer O’Brien, executive director of the American Special Hockey Association. “Each day they bravely rise to meet their challenges with determination and achieve their goals. One Step Beyond champions their cause and we’re happy to show our support.”
