New Movie About Mental Health in the Black Community Launches on Streaming Platforms
By Melody Pierce - Wednesday Apr 07, 2021
The Wynn Network, an Arizona based 24/7 streaming platform with inspirational content for the whole family, is releasing “John Wynn’s Playhouse” for download on Thursday, April 8, 2021. The movie dives into the history of mental health in the Black community and how it impacts the lives of millions. According to the Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, Black adults in the U.S. are more likely than white adults to report persistent symptoms of emotional distress, such as sadness and hopelessness.

At the "Playhouse,” what was expected to be a relaxing getaway, soon becomes an unwanted therapy session where hidden memories are uncovered by Dr. Williams and his peculiar methods. The film was written and produced by Dr. John Wynn, a bishop, counselor, author and motivational speaker with more than 20 years of experience. The film highlights tools and lessons discussed in Dr. Wynn‘s self-help book, “Wrestling with god”, where he shares his personal experiences and the trauma he had to uncover in order to live a more meaningful life.

“It’s imperative that we continue the conversation surrounding mental health and the Black community,” said Dr. John Wynn, CEO of The Wynn Network. “Our mission with this movie is to tell stories of real Black community members and continue creating media that influences people in a positive way.”

“John Wynn’s Playhouse” is directed by Reuben Johnson, written and produced by John Wynn and edited by Angelique Wynn. Starring Vincent M.
