National Sickle Cell Awareness Month Campaign Creates Awareness
By Claire Natale - Monday Sep 25, 2023
September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and locally owned 72SOLD is matching $10,000 and challenging the community to raise $25,000 for the Sickle Cell Program at Phoenix Children’s. For Edson Barrantes, Chief Strategy Officer at 72SOLD, the disease hits especially close to home.

“My son, Ethan, was diagnosed at just five days old with Sickle Beta Zero Thalassemia, a blood disorder where there is no normal hemoglobin produced,” said Barrantes. “During the first five years of his life, Ethan had multiple hospital stays and blood transfusions. When we moved to Phoenix in 2017 and met Dr. Shah at Phoenix Children’s, the treatment they provided completely changed Ethan’s life. He went from multiple hospital stays to now being a vibrant 10-year-old.”

Sickle cell disease is a hereditary, lifelong, chronic disease passed down through families in which there is abnormal production or structure of the hemoglobin molecule. Symptoms can include anemia, acute chest syndrome, stroke, jaundice, pain and painful swelling in the fingers and toes of children younger than 3-years-old. For Dr. Sanjay J Shah, M.D., from the Sickle Cell Program at Phoenix Children’s, the attention is impactful.

“This is huge for the sickle cell community and I can’t be thankful enough to 72SOLD,” said Dr. Shah. “This fundraiser brings awareness to the general community. It brings funds to the sickle cell program at Phoenix Children’s that will allow us to participate in cutting edge research, make cutting edge curative treatment more readily available like gene therapy and even funds to help those suffering in the sickle cell community with social and economic challenges.”

On Sunday, Sept. 24, 72SOLD will take to the field at State Farm Stadium before the Arizona Cardinals vs. Dallas Cowboys game to present Phoenix Children’s with a check for $10,000 for their Sickle Cell Program. In addition to the donation, now through the end of the month, anyone can visit 72gives.com to donate money to Phoenix Children’s.

“We are excited we have the platform to help create awareness about this disease that impacts so many,” said Greg Hague, CEO and founder of 72SOLD. “This truly is a community effort and reaching our goal would not be possible without the help of the public.”

Since its inception in 2018, 72SOLD has proven to be an overwhelming success in the Arizona real estate market. The firm has expanded rapidly, now offering its popular 8-day home selling program throughout the country. In 2023, with a three-year revenue growth of 1,232%, 72SOLD landed No. 474 on the Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The placement ranks them among the top 500 fastest growing firms in America for two years in a row, in the top five real estate firms in the nation, and #1 in Arizona. AZBigMedia also named 72SOLD as one of its recipients of its 2023 Most Admired Companies award.

About 72SOLD
72SOLD was founded by attorney, real estate authority and TV spokesperson Greg Hague. The company developed a program designed to sell any home in eight days or less (instead of the traditional weeks or months) for thousands more than selling the traditional way. Seven independent studies over four years encompassing more than 200,000 home sales found that sellers who used the 72SOLD program had an average sale price 8.4%-12% higher than other sales in their local MLS. 72SOLD sellers don’t endure the inconvenience of daily showings and have greater control over their closing and move dates. The 72SOLD program has been featured on ABC, CBS, and NBC News, showcased in Forbes, Inc., received several U.S. trademarks and 72SOLD was ranked in Inc. 5000’s Top 500 Fastest Growing Companies in America, and recently recognized among the Most Admired Companies in its home state.
