Local PPE Mask Manufacturer Shares the Importance of Wearing a Multilayered Mask with a Filter
By Megan Wahl - Thursday Nov 12, 2020
The 2020 – 2021 flu season has begun and with the current COVID-19 pandemic still running rampant US POWER AZ PPE (POWER PPE), a Mesa, Ariz. manufacturer of high quality, reusable 3-Ply smart masks, is encouraging Arizonans to wear a multilayered mask with an added layer for an insert filter.

Since the coronavirus and the flu are contagious respiratory illnesses, both can be spread to others up to approximately six feet away and mainly through droplets when coughing, sneezing or talking. Droplets can then land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby and be inhaled into the lungs.

“PPE masks should be worn to protect yourself from droplets, germs, and illness as well as to help prevent your own germs from spreading to others,” said Kevin Thorpe, president of POWER PPE. “Wearing a mask is also a sign of respect for others. Whether you’re ill, have allergies or just want to protect yourself, wearing a mask is becoming a normal occurrence and is a sign of good hygiene when in a high-risk situation.”

POWER PPE’s POWER3 smart mask utilizes patented Smart Filter technology to protect users from airborne particulates. It also protects against the transfer of microorganisms by blocking microbial particles, as confirmed by labs in Japan and in the United Kingdom, making the mask filters more effective than the surgical grade masks in use currently.

Thorpe added, “Even if you are in an area that does not require face masks, your personal decision to wear a mask could protect you and those around you. Extra protection could mean the difference between staying healthy during what could be one of the most serious flu seasons in Arizona’s recent history.”

POWER PPE is undertaking the required testing for FDA compliance and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) designation and should receive certification at the end of this year.
