With more than 100 years of construction and project support experience, locally owned geotechnical engineering and survey company, Alta Southwest, has seen significant growth amid COVID-19 with the addition of new projects ranging from development experience and construction support in residential, commercial, government, institutional and industrial industries. In response, the company is looking to immediately hire up to 15 employees including engineers, engineers-in-training, survey crew chiefs and more.

“Our company offers an incredible opportunity to truly learn on the job while getting trained by some of the best engineers in our state,” says Alta Southwest Partner and Co-Founder, Dan Vermeer. “With so many impacted by job losses during the coronavirus pandemic, we are hoping to help passionate, hard working people make an impactful career change. Whether you are an out-of-work bartender or have been in this business for years, Alta Southwest is a fit for anyone interested in a rewarding career.”

The company will pay for employees to obtain all necessary certifications and will offer one-on-one extensive training upon hiring. All job openings are full time positions and will offer a standard benefits package in addition to cellphone allowance.

The company currently has 85 employees between their Phoenix and Tucson offices. Alta Southwest offers a range of essential services including civil and geotechnical engineering, surveying, and construction materials testing for soils, concrete and asphalt including field and laboratory testing for project specification, satisfying regulatory requirements and extensive troubleshooting mitigation for the unexpected issues that often arise during construction.

“We are one of the fastest-growing geotechnical engineering companies in the state and our mission is to implement a client-focused approach to our consulting services from concept through final acceptance.,” says Alta Southwest’s Geotechnical Principal and Director, Sean Fabor. “I’m so honored to work with a team that has world-class experience and a passion for providing outstanding client service to projects across the state.”

Some of Alta Southwest’s standout projects include the City of Phoenix’s light rail expansion project, which they have been involved in for the last 3 years. The City of Phoenix recently extended its involvement with the project to help with Phase II of the Northwest Expansion, which will extend the light rail west on Dunlap Avenue and across the I-17. Alta Southwest has also been involved in projects with the District at Chandler.

“The team at Alta Southwest were thrown into a time-sensitive situation with our project at District at Chandler and have turned around the items we need extremely quickly while also being great to work with. Their staff are some of the most responsive people I’ve met and have worked well beyond business hours on quick turnarounds,” said Assistant Project Manager for KATERRA, Brian Silverstein.
