Lennar Creates Active Adult Community of the Future
By Alison M Walsh - Monday Sep 14, 2020
The country’s largest homebuilder, Lennar Homes, is creating the active adult community of the future with a one of a kind putting course, but no golf course.

Lennar is partnering with Briarwood Country Club, a nearby full-service private country club to offer Asante homeowners a complimentary 60-day golf or social membership to explore Briarwood’s amenities. The membership starts the month after a homeowner closes on their home. The best part is that Briarwood is just 12 minutes from the Asante development.

"Heritage at Asante is truly one of a kind in many ways, but with this new partnership we truly believe we are setting the standard for future active adult living," said Alan Jones, Division President of Lennar Homes. “Lennar is committed to continuing to innovate and develop unique communities that meet the changing needs of homeowners. For us, that meant not burdening Asante homeowners for decades with an 18-hole championship golf course that they would eventually have to care for and maintain. Briarwood is ideally situated for a great partnership with our homeowners," Jones said.

The National Golf Foundation showed a 14-year overall decline in the number of golf rounds played on courses, although 2018 showed a slight uptick. The Wall Street Journal reports that more than 1000 courses have closed during that same time period. At Lennar’s Verrado active adult community, less than 10% of the new homebuyers there joined the golf course at Verrado. That helped contribute to Lennar’s decision to not place a full course at Asante.

Asante will have a one -of-a-kind championship putting course that has replica holes of some of the nation’s top courses. Asante homeowners will almost feel the sea air at a replica of holes 7 and 18 at Pebble Beach. They’ll also get the excitement of holes 16, 17 and 18 at the TPC Tournament Player’s Club in Scottsdale. Other highlights include holes from Sawgrass and Augusta.

Lennar’s largest Arizona development in Surprise is already one of a kind, in that it may be the only place in the United States that within the same development there will be homes for first-time buyers, second-time buyers, large garage RV/boat homes, a 55+ active adult community and next-gen housing. Lennar created next-gen homes specifically for this multigenerational living concept. Each community includes all the extras, including wi-fi connectivity and green building efficiencies saving homeowners money and helping protect the environment at the same time. In addition to the putting green, Heritage at Asante includes a recreation/fitness center, pickle ball and bocce courts, resort pool and dog park with lush trail systems throughout. Asante will also feature a school, library and 50-acre park.

“We are very excited about growing our presence in the West Valley with a product that is unlike any other,” said Jones. “This burgeoning development is truly a complete family destination with homes and amenities that offer something for everyone, and now we’ve taken that one step further with our golf offerings”.
