KTAR Give-A-Thon Generates Record $1,912,955 for Phoenix Children’s
By Christina Caldwell - Monday Aug 24, 2020
With the help of KTAR NEWS 92.3 FM, 98.7 FM ARIZONA’S SPORTS STATION, KTAR.com and ArizonaSports.com, communities across Arizona gave more than $1,912,955 to support world-class care at Phoenix Children’s. It was a record-shattering achievement for the nation’s longest and most successful radiothon of its kind.

The event, broadcast over five days in a virtual format, included appearances from KTAR and Arizona Sports personalities, including Jayme West, Jim Sharpe, Mike Broomhead, Doug Franz, Ron Wolfley, Dan Bickley, Vince Marotta, Larry Gaydos, Chad Benson, Paul Calvisi, Dave Burns, John Gambadoro, Becky Lynn, and Dan Beach. All of the proceeds generated will directly benefit Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund, which funds essential equipment, operations, charitable care, Child Life resources, virtual care and research.

“$1,912,955 in this unprecedented environment is just incredible,” said Scott Sutherland, senior vice president and market manager of Bonneville Phoenix, parent company of KTAR NEWS 92.3 FM and 98.7 ARIZONA’S SPORTS STATION. “We strive to build up, inform, connect and celebrate our community, and there isn’t a better example of doing that than the Give-A-Thon for Phoenix Children’s. A big thank you to our loyal audiences, along with our sponsors and partners, who helped make year’s event one that we will forever cherish.”

Funds raised during Give-A-Thon make an impact on the delivery of expert, family-centered care for more than 204,319 patients each year.

“We cannot thank KTAR, Arizona’s Sports Station and the local community enough for their record-breaking support,” said Steve Schnall, Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer. “Even though the pandemic has impacted our patient families, the KTAR Give-a-Thon is an important reminder that when we put out the call, the community will step up and make sure kids get the top notch healthcare they need.” #KidsCan'tWait
