KTAR Give-a-Thon Expands to Week-Long Event Benefiting Phoenix Children’s
By Christina Caldwell - Tuesday Aug 11, 2020
While many of life’s routines have fallen to the wayside during the COVID-19 pandemic, the kids at Phoenix Children’s can’t wait for care. The is why the annual KTAR News and Arizona’s Sports Station Give-A-Thon has been expanded from two days to a full week of fundraising for the health, hope and healing at the Hospital. Give-A-Thon will take place virtually from August 17-21 on KTAR NEWS 92.3 FM and 98.7 FM ARIZONA’S SPORTS STATION, KTAR.com, arizonasports.com and on the station’s social media channels.

During the week-long Give-A-Thon, 100 percent of proceeds generated will directly benefit Phoenix Children’s and patient families in the areas of essential equipment, operations, charitable care, Child Life resources, virtual care and research. You can make a difference by donating any amount online at giveathonforpch.org or calling 602-933-4567. Every dollar counts, and that is why Panda Express has pledged to match every Give-A-Thon donation up to an incredible $2 million. Plus, Valley Hyundai Dealers will triple match all gifts on Friday, August 21, effectively quadrupling all donations on that day only.

“The demand for high-quality children’s healthcare in times of injury, illness or treatment is great, and that doesn’t slow down for a pandemic,” said Steve Schnall, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation. “These are stressful times for families – especially those caring for their ill or injured child. To meet these urgent demands, KTAR & Arizona Sports is committed to ensuring our hospital has the ability to care for the most vulnerable children. Every donation gets us closer to that goal.”

The week-long broadcast will include touching stories from Phoenix Children’s patients and families and appearances from on-air talent.

“Phoenix Children’s is a shining light in our community, and it is our honor to support their mission during these tough times,” said Scott Sutherland, VP/Market Manager, Bonneville Phoenix, owner of KTAR FM and 98.7 FM, Arizona’s Sports Station. “By extending our Give-A-Thon in 2020, we hope to raise a significant amount of money and provide hope to the families that need it most at this time.”
