FSL Receives $3,000 in Walmart Community Grants
By Lindsay Hansen - Monday Nov 27, 2023
FSL (Foundation for Senior Living) is honored to announce that the organization has been selected for two Walmart Community Grants totaling $3,000 to provide support to programs and services that will help residents in FSL’s affordable housing communities in Phoenix and Lake Havasu City.

“The Walmart Community Grant will help us improve the quality of life for residents in our communities through increased access to recreation, access to much-needed hygiene items, and options to help vulnerable adults avoid food insecurity,” said Tami Bohannon, president and CEO of FSL.

According to an action plan by the Arizona Department of Economic Security, one in six Arizonans face food insecurity and about 500,000 Arizona residents will be impacted by diet-related illness by 2030.

The $2,000 grant awarded for Phoenix will enable FSL to continue to fight food insecurity among vulnerable residents of the Phoenix affordable housing communities by securing food and hygiene supplies, helping them meet their basic needs.

The grant awarded for Lake Havasu City brings $1,000 that will allow FSL to plan and host more activities for residents of the Becket House and Havasu Hills affordable housing communities. Activities commonly include game nights, holiday celebrations and more in order to combat social isolation and promote wellbeing.

FSL serves seniors and adults with disabilities, providing home and community-based services, including access to affordable housing communities across the state that promote health, independence and dignity for all.
