Esperança Announces Tami Bohannon as the new Chief Development Officer
By Autumn Jarrett - Tuesday Aug 04, 2020
(PHOENIX – July 30, 2020) – Tamara “Tami” Bohannon has been announced as the new Chief Development Officer for Esperança, a Phoenix-based nonprofit whose mission is to improve health and restore hope both locally and globally.

As Esperança looks to expand on the heels of its 50-year anniversary, Bohannon will utilize her expertise to increase resources to bring hope, provide health and transform communities through domestic and international programs.

“I am honored to join the staff at Esperança and help create a strategic vision for our next 50 years of supporting families around the globe,” said Bohannon.

Bohannon brings 25 years of experience and professionalism to Esperança with an extensive background in managing communications and fundraising efforts for both faith-based and secular organizations, including Boys Hope Girls Hope of Arizona, St. Francis Xavier Jesuit Parish, the Sisters of Mercy, Ronald McDonald House Charities and the American Cancer Society.

“During this time of isolation and uncertainty it is more important than ever to stay connected with Esperança’s supporters,” says Jeri Royce, president and CEO of Esperança. “I couldn’t be happier to welcome Tami to the team to do just that.”

Bohannon recently completed a term on the Board of Directors of the Greater Arizona Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals where she chaired the signature annual event and awards celebration and served as marketing chair. She also serves as a mentor for the Association of Fundraising Professionals and guest lectures at both ASU and the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at Maricopa Community Colleges.

Bohannon is a graduate of Fresno State University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Public Relations and a Certified Fund Raising Executive accreditation.

About Esperança
Esperança, an Arizona-based global health nonprofit organization, is transforming lives on a local and global level. Its Phoenix-based program is uniquely positioned as the leader in providing health education and resources to Maricopa County’s most at-risk and under-served youth and adults through programs such as oral health, chronic disease prevention and management, and nutrition. Further, the organization works within some of the poorest communities in the world, including Nicaragua, Bolivia, Peru, Mozambique and Ecuador, by coordinating volunteer surgical missions, and community development projects like ecological housing, disease prevention and education, food security and access to clean water.
