Equine Therapy Farm Receives $25,000 for Homeless Pet Housing Program
By Claire Natale - Wednesday Jul 07, 2021
Hunkapi Programs, an equine therapy farm located in the heart of Scottsdale, is excited to announce it received a donation of $25,000 from Aerīz, which will benefit the farm’s Sit. Stay. Heal program. The initiative focuses on providing dogs a safe place to live while their owners transition from living on the streets to securing more permanent housing. The collaborative effort is the first of its kind in the nation.

“Since launching this program, we’ve been able to help people experiencing homelessness seek treatment knowing their pets are safe and cared for," says executive director Terra Schaad. “This donation will ensure we can continue to shelter the four-legged friends of those in need while they get rehabilitated. We are incredibly grateful to the Aerīz for their generosity.”

The donation will go toward the completion of the Sit. Stay. Heal barn including insulating the Dog Care Room and completing the sanitation system. In addition, it will sponsor current and new dogs who enter the program, veterinary care, food, grooming and medications.

“Aerīz is thrilled to support Hunkapi Farms and its innovative Sit.Stay.Heal program,” said Michelle Bailey, accounting and human resources manager. “Animal care and aiding the homeless are two causes near to our hearts, and we are humbled to support Hunkapi’s program. We look forward to continued work with Hunkapi down the line and we thank them for serving the Phoenix area community.”

Aerīz is the only aeroponic medical cannabis cultivator in Illinois and Arizona. Aeroponic growing is a revolutionary grow process that uses a recyclable grow medium instead of soil. Clean white roots are suspended in a custom-fitted table and misted with the precise amounts of nutrients and water. Not only does the company grow aeroponically but it also uses special recyclable flower containers to further reduce its footprint.

Donations for the program can be made at here. For more information about the farm, visit Hunkapi.org. To keep up to date with farm events, please follow the organization on Facebook and Instagram.

About Hunkapi Programs
Hunkapi, based in Scottsdale, brings to the Valley a variety of horse powered activities for children and adults including: therapeutic riding lessons, equine assisted psychotherapy and garden therapy. Most of the lessons come from the horses, who gently guide clients toward greater mindfulness of self and others. The name is taken from a Native American word that means “I am related to everyone” and expresses the deep sense of connection between horse and human. For more information on the program, please visit the website at http://www.hunkapi.org. You can also reach the farm at (480) 393-0870 or [email protected].
