Duet Receives Special Recognition for Its Service to Older Adults in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District
By Lindsay Hansen - Friday Sep 22, 2023
Phoenix, Ariz. (Sept. 19, 2023) – Duet: Partners In Health & Aging was presented with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Arizona’s 8th congressional district. This recognition highlights the more than 42 years of unwavering commitment Duet has had to delivering vitally needed free-of-charge services to older adults.

“We are honored to be recognized for the programs and services our staff and volunteers work tirelessly to provide,” says Ann Wheat, Duet’s executive director. “The time is now for us to come together with the community and provide assistance for the older adults around us.”

The Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition honors individuals, organizations and others who have gone above and beyond to give back to the community and strive to make a difference for those in need in order to make their lives better.

During the recognition ceremony, Keith Forte, district 8 director said, “I just want to thank Duet for the incredible service that you provide to the constituents, Maricopa County, and the state of Arizona. You’re making things better for people and we sincerely appreciate it.”

In 2022, Duet expanded services which led to 2,426 homebound adults, family caregivers, and grandfamilies access vitally needed support and resources – an increase of 36% more people served from 2021. This was made possible in part by the organization’s 309 volunteers who gave 11,544 hours of the time to help homebound adults fight isolation through companionship and receive access to healthy food and medical care.

Recently, Duet expanded its reach through the creation of the Meaning & Hope Institute for family caregivers, bringing webinars, support groups and more to a virtual setting, creating access for family caregivers who cannot attend in person and allowing Duet’s mission to reach people on a national level.
