Duet Celebrates GivingTuesday on December 1; Community Members Encouraged to Join in the Global Day of Generosity
By Michelle Talsma Everson - Wednesday Nov 18, 2020
This GivingTuesday, December 1, Duet: Partners In Health & Aging will inspire the community to volunteer, donate, and ask for help in support of its mission to promote health and well-being through vitally needed services to homebound adults, family caregivers, faith communities, and grandfamilies. At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together. GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world.

The community can make a vital difference in the lives of local seniors by supporting Duet on GivingTuesday in three ways:

• Become a volunteer. Just a couple of hours a month can deliver dignity and hope to an isolated senior. Duet’s greatest requests for volunteer service are grocery shopping and transportation to medical appointments. To begin, the first step is to register for an orientation. There is a volunteer orientation on GivingTuesday, December 1 from 2 – 4:30 p.m. at Duet’s office at 10000 N. 31st Ave., Suite D200, Phoenix, AZ 85051. RSVP is required as space is limited due to physical distancing. Register at duetaz.org/volunteer, call (602) 274-5022, or e-mail [email protected].

• Attend the Discover Duet virtual tour. Join Duet on GivingTuesday at 10 a.m. on December 1 for Discover Duet, a 20-minute informational Zoom tour. You'll learn about their mission through facts and stories of the people they serve. RSVP is required to receive Zoom link. RSVP at duetaz.org/about, call (602) 274-5022, ext. 132, or e-mail [email protected].

• Donate. Duet is rallying the community to give generously to support their vitally needed, free-of-charge services for homebound adults, family caregivers, faith communities, and grandfamilies. Donate at duetaz.org/giving or call (602) 274-5022.

“This year, GivingTuesday is vitally important as we work relentlessly to continue offering supportive services to homebound adults, family caregivers, faith communities, and grandfamilies who have all been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and need our continued support now more than ever before,” says Tina Lopez, CFRE, director of development at Duet.

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Community members can also help spread the word by sharing GivingTuesday posts found on Duet’s social media: Facebook.com/duetaz, Twitter.com/duetaz and at linkedin.com/company/duetaz.
