Chapman Automotive Group Commits to 5-Year Partnership with Hunkapi
By Claire Natale - Friday Apr 29, 2022
Hunkapi Programs, an equine therapy farm located in the heart of Scottsdale, is excited to announce it has entered a five year partnership with Chapman Automotive Group, which kicked off in March with a $70,000 donation that went directly to naming the farm’s main arena, Chapman Arena.

“Partnerships like this ensure that we can comfortably host events, take care of our animals and maintain the property for a long period of time,” said Terra Schaad, Hunkapi Executive Director. “Our herd of four-legged healers use their instincts to help patients connect to their emotions and heal, in whatever way that means for the individual. This generous donation allows us to give our clients and horses the best care possible so that they can both work together.”

The nonprofit offers a variety of services including therapeutic riding, counseling, emotional regulation, team building, addiction recovery and more. Clients who participate in Hunkapi’s programs include those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, emotional disorder, addiction disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Throughout the duration of the partnership, Chapman Automotive Group will also sponsor a variety of events and activations on the property, including Hunkapi’s annual Christmas at the Farm event, a free outing for children and mothers in shelter.

Chapman Auto Group is a family-owned dealer operator group based in Arizona with dealerships in Tucson, Phoenix, Payson and now, Yuma. Their first dealership opened in Chandler in 1966. The partnership is part of the group’s Chapman Cares program. From raising awareness at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer to facilitating events that aid local shelter dogs find homes, Chapman employees take pride in actively helping others.

About Hunkapi Programs
Hunkapi, based in Scottsdale, brings to the Valley a variety of horse powered activities for children and adults including: therapeutic riding lessons, equine assisted psychotherapy and garden therapy. Most of the lessons come from the horses, who gently guide clients toward greater mindfulness of self and others. The name is taken from a Native American word that means “I am related to everyone” and expresses the deep sense of connection between horse and human. For more information on the program, please visit the website at http://www.hunkapi.org. You can also reach the farm at (480) 393-0870 or [email protected].
