Barrett-Jackson Returns to Live Events with Fall Auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale; Revised 2020 Schedule Announced
By Lisa Padilla - Friday Jul 31, 2020
Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, announced today a special Fall Auction will take place at WestWorld of Scottsdale, October 22-24, 2020. The Barrett-Jackson executive team made the decision to hold the three-day event in Arizona in lieu of its previously scheduled 2020 Las Vegas and Palm Beach events. The Fall Auction, which will be broadcast live on FYI and HISTORY, will offer genuine automobilia items and hundreds of collectible vehicles, with a diverse docket full of highly desirable cars, including a 2012 Lexus LFA, a 2018 Ford GT, a 1970 Plymouth HEMI ’Cuda and a 1968 Pontiac Firebird Resto-Mod – each of which will be offered with No Reserve.

“Although we were looking forward to our traditional Las Vegas and Palm Beach Auctions this year, after careful consideration we determined that a live auction at WestWorld was an exciting and more feasible alternative,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “At this time, this allows us to better safeguard the health of our guests and team members and gives us the ability to deliver the high-quality experience for which Barrett-Jackson is known. A lot of thought went into the new procedures necessary for this to happen, which we will communicate over the coming weeks.”

From the auction block with its signature American flag and high-energy auctioneers to the diverse docket of collector cars and authentic automobilia, the Fall Auction will treat bidders, consignors and invited guests to a memorable Barrett-Jackson experience while closely following local, state and federal health and safety protocols.

Among the collector cars already lined up for the Fall Auction are four incredible vehicles, all offered with No Reserve. An original-owner 2012 Lexus LFA on the docket has under 1,100 miles on the odometer and is one of just 178 allocated and sold in the U.S. market, while an immaculate Shadow Black 2018 Ford GT with a Dark Energy interior theme has less than 853 actual miles and comes with the GT ordering kit, original transport seat and steering wheel covers, owner’s manuals, a Ford GT car cover and more. An original, matching-numbers 1970 Plymouth HEMI ’Cuda that won Best of Show at the Mopar Nationals in 1998 and was completely re-restored in 2018, as well as a stunning 1968 Pontiac Firebird Resto-Mod with a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine under the hood and a multitude of top-of-the-line custom options will also be turning some heads.

“While this has been a tough year for everybody, it hasn’t dampened our passion for this incredible hobby,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Our collector car family encouraged us to hold this Fall Auction in our own backyard at the trusted venue of WestWorld, which provides a great level of confidence. We’re going to celebrate with a first-class experience that will serve as the perfect ‘warm-up’ to our big 50th Anniversary celebration next year.”

Barrett-Jackson has been working very closely with the team from WestWorld, the city of Scottsdale’s largest event venue, to ensure that public health and safety are at the forefront of this scaled-back Fall Auction. Event staff will check the temperature of everyone entering the building and those with any symptoms will be denied entry. Everyone inside must wear cloth face coverings, and seating in the auction arena will be arranged to adhere to physical distancing requirements ‒ which effectively reduces the maximum occupancy in that space by 75 percent.

“Barrett-Jackson is a vital part of the Scottsdale community, and they have developed a very thorough plan that complies with public health guidelines and the governor's executive orders,” said Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane. “Our staff reviewed the plan, and I am confident that everyone involved will see it through and ensure all necessary precautions are taken. Over the next 12 weeks, we will pay close attention to Arizona’s coronavirus statistics and make adjustments as necessary.”

The WestWorld staff is experienced in operating in this environment. Since Arizona’s stay-at-home order was lifted, limited-scale events with similar safety precautions in place have been hosted successfully, including a drive-in July 4th celebration and several equestrian competitions.

Additionally, facility improvements at WestWorld are proceeding thanks to federal CARES Act funding provided to municipalities by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. Most immediately, the venue’s ventilation system will receive ultraviolet sanitization technology similar to that used at many hospitals, which is believed to be effective at eliminating many airborne viruses. Work to install those systems is underway and should be completed prior to this event.

Barrett-Jackson is now accepting consignments for the Fall Auction. To help maintain social distancing guidelines recommended for live events, the event will primarily be limited to bidders, consignors and their guests. Enhanced live online and phone bidding options will be available for registered bidders. Click here to register as a bidder.

Full refunds for the 2020 Palm Beach Auction and Las Vegas Auction ticket holders will be available. Details for refunds will be communicated directly to ticket holders via email.
