Wilde Wealth Management Group, an award-winning independent financial services firm that provides comprehensive retirement, investment, insurance, legal and tax planning services, is pleased to announce long-time San Luis Obispo County resident and community leader Robert R. Shipe has joined the firm as a senior financial advisor. Shipe’s hiring marks Wilde Wealth Management Group’s formal expansion into California. In his new role, Shipe will not only continue to focus on helping clients be prepared for critical financial events in their lives such as retirement, strategic investment planning and caring for future generations, but he will also work to grow the California office in partnership with chief executive officer Trevor Wilde, MBA, AIF®. The Wilde Wealth Management Group San Luis Obispo office is located at 656 Santa Rosa St. #3A, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
“Both a U.S. Army veteran and entrepreneur before making the move to financial services more than 10 years ago, Robert brings a unique perspective and expertise to his role that will be key in not only helping our California clientele, but in developing and growing our California footprint,†says Wilde, who was recently named for the 13th consecutive year to Barron’s annual list of top 1,200 advisors nationwide and No. 2 overall in Arizona.
Prior to joining Wilde, Shipe worked for more than a decade as a financial advisor for Edward Jones. From 1987 to 1995, Shipe served in the U.S. Army, including assignments at Fort Benning in Georgia, Fort Polk in Louisiana and Fort Irwin in California. Following his honorable discharge, he would found and operate two businesses – Absolute Entertainment and Absolute Janitorial – before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Western Governor’s University in 2010 and entering the financial field.
As dedicated to the community as to his work, Shipe helped lead negotiations between Los Osos homeowners and the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board for the Los Osos Sewer project, an issue that divided the region since the 1970s. He also served on the finance committee of the technical advisory committee for the Los Osos Wastewater Project as well as on the board of directors for several organizations, including The Central Coast Wedding Professionals and Fans in Black, a charity affiliated with the then-Oakland Raiders Booster Club. Shipe also coached track and field for San Luis Distance Club Youth Roo Rats and at Los Osos Middle School.
“Our goal is to model our Central Coast office after Wilde’s teams across Arizona. They have an incredible operation based in Scottsdale that offers clients far more than just financial planning. They really work to improve and simplify the lives of their clients. In addition to offering boutique, customized investment planning advice, we look to replicate the expanded in-house service offerings with fellow independent specialists in the fields of legal, taxes, risk management, family services, real estate and insurance,†says Shipe. “We will be immediately looking for like-minded advisors to join us as well as trusted professional partners and affiliates. We will also be looking to develop a community outreach program on par with that of the Arizona team.â€
“Wilde Wealth Management Group believes in operating under a commitment to service to both its clients and the community at large,†said Wilde. “Through Wilde for Arizona, the firm empowers its team to be active members of the communities where we all work and live.â€
According to Wilde, who himself is a member of the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Arizona and Child Crisis Arizona as well as a member of Young Presidents' Organization and, the Forbes Finance Council, from sponsoring local sports teams to organizing fundraising events for nonprofits in need to simply donating to causes near and dear to their hearts, Wilde for Arizona is making a difference in the lives of people across Arizona in every way it can.
Wilde will continue to primarily work from his Scottsdale headquarters, but – along with chief operating officer Jackie Yoder – will travel regularly to the Central Coast office and oversee its growth in partnership with Shipe. The expansion into California comes on the heels of the company’s partnership with Premier Wealth Management in Albuquerque, Self Wealth Management in Scottsdale, Ariz., Mosaic Financial Associates in Tempe, Ariz., and as the transition of Chris Smith Investments in Payson, Ariz. to Wilde Wealth Management Group Payson. Wilde Wealth also deepened its partnership with JRS Wealth Management and Hallmark Financial – first announced in 2019 – in January 2021 by welcoming Tim Lewis as Wilde Wealth’s first formal Tucson team member. Both JRS and Hallmark have also updated their respective logos to include Wilde Wealth Management Group’s brand.
