Arizona Helping Hands Receives $15,000 Grant from Valley of the Sun Active 20/30 Club
By Lindsay Hansen - Wednesday Oct 12, 2022
Arizona Helping Hands is pleased to announce the Valley of the Sun Active 20/30 Club has donated $15,000 to the nonprofit’s Basic Needs program, which provides children in foster and kinship families with beds, clothing, hygiene items and more.

“We are so thankful to be a beneficiary of the Valley of the Sun Active 20/30 Club,” says Maureen Noe, President and CEO of Arizona Helping Hands. “Support from community organizations allows us to provide essential needs and services to children in the foster care system.”

A portion of the grant will be used to support operations and purchase essential items for the Basic Needs program, which serves children up to 21 years old as they are placed with new foster families or as needs arise.

The funding will also provide support for expanding services and increasing accessibility by allowing Arizona Helping Hands to stay open later into the evening and to incorporate hours on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. beginning in January 2023.

“The impact that Arizona Helping Hands has on the foster care community is incredible. We are honored to be a partner with such a great organization and look forward to helping them grow.” Alexandra Case, Beneficiary Liaison, Valley of the Sun Active 20-30 Club.

Grant funding from Valley of the Sun Active 20/30 Club is collected and distributed from the club’s nonprofit organization, Valley Kids Foundation, which has raised more than $2.45 million in the last thirty years. Arizona Helping Hands was selected as one of 11 organizations receiving funding for 2022-2023.

Arizona Helping Hands has helped more than 4,700 children in 2022. Each year, the organization’s volunteers donate about $200,000 in economic value to the mission of helping foster kids and Arizona Helping Hands has built its reputation, becoming a top referral partner for the Department of Child Safety when directing new foster families or homes to local resources.
