Arizona Builders Gift $40,000 in Toys
By Laura Slawny - Friday Dec 22, 2023
Construction workers across Arizona united this holiday season to share joy and hope with over 2,500 underprivileged children by supporting the Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA) 14th Annual Community Service Board's 2023 Toy Drive. Over 150 construction companies and individuals donated a mountain of toys and $40,000 to purchase gifts for Arizona’s second-largest annual Christmas toy drive.

Volunteers spent hours wrapping and delivering thousands of LEGO sets, bicycles, Barbie dolls, trucks, and other gifts for Christmas events held December 18-20. Parents and foster parents got to select gifts for their children from a collection of toys. Bags of wrapped gifts were given to children who were separated from their parents during a festive party that included games, a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, holiday music, and Christmas treats.

“The generosity of construction workers who have come together to contribute to the community has brought joy to countless children across the state,” said Kim Davids, Arizona Builders Alliance President. “As a leader in Arizona’s construction industry, we urge members to participate in community efforts to create positive impact and inspire a community sense of togetherness.”

Major contributors to this year’s toy drive include Rosendin, Hensel Phelps, Big-D, Sundt, IMCOR, Alston, Kortman, and TDIndustries.

“Rosendin is proud to contribute to the ABA’s annual toy drive and support families living in Arizona communities where our employees live and work,” said Brandon Stephens, Rosendin Vice-President. “It brought us joy to once again sponsor an elementary school classroom to give students a holiday party with gifts, treats, and a day of fun.”

Toys were gifted to children through Sunshine Acres Children’s Home, Arizona Baptist Children’s Services, Sequoia Charter School, Agape Adoption Agency of Arizona, Arizona Sunshine Angels?, and Santo Niño Catholic Community. These organizations provide support services such as basic needs assistance, recreation enrichment, permanency support, advocacy and awareness, and legal advocacy to children who have been separated from their parents or have endured abuse and neglect.
