Annual Toy Drive Benefits Phoenix Children's
By Claire Natale - Wednesday Dec 22, 2021
PNC Bank and Phoenix Children’s are joining forces this holidays season to support the hospital’s annual Toyland drive. The joint effort will ensure that the holidays are full of the joy and wonder that characterize the season for children who will spend theirs in the hospital.
“We are delighted to be joining with Phoenix Children’s as the sponsor for this year’s Toyland,” said Cathleen Walker, PNC regional president of Phoenix and Northern Arizona. “All children deserve to experience the things that make the holidays one of the best times of the year, and unwrapping a gift is chief among those experiences for kids everywhere. We can’t think of a more worthy cause than the opportunity to bring joy to Phoenix Children’s patients.”
Each December the event is held inside the hospital, so parents of hospitalized patients have the opportunity to shop for their children, right before the Christmas holiday, at no cost to them. The toys and other items are donated through online gift registries and the generous support from official Toyland sponsor, PNC Bank.
“We are excited to be teaming up with PNC Bank,” said Steve Schnall, Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s senior vice president and chief development officer. “Toyland is an incredible event that brings joy to our hospitalized patients for illness or injury during the holidays.”
Toys and other items can be donated through one of the Phoenix Children’s online gift registries by visiting the gift registry page and choosing one of the items listed or people can make a financial donation. For health and safety reasons, holiday donations are not being accepted outside of the online process. Financial donations or gift cards also can be sent directly to Phoenix Children's located at 1919 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85016.
This year, the shopping event will take place over two days, Dec. 23 and 24, and the gifts will be delivered to the patient’s room. Parents also can choose to wrap the presents at gift wrap stations throughout the hospital.
Toyland is a great way to help patients and their families during what should be a joyous time of year. Toyland supporters are encouraged to make tax-deductible donations early as another way to help the Child Life Department and the Toyland Drive.
Toyland is made possible thanks to PNC Bank. For more information visit phoenixchildrensfoundation.org/campaign/pnc-bank-toyland/.
