Accounting & Finance Professionals Provides Diapers to Local Families in Need, Partners with Diaper Bank of Central Arizona
By Tobin Ernst - Wednesday May 26, 2021
Nationally, one in three families cannot afford diapers. Phoenix-based Accounting & Finance Professionals is hoping to change that statistic by partnering with the Diaper Bank of Central Arizona to help local families get the diapers they need for their children with a $2,500 donation to start.

“If you have young kids, you know diapers are expensive and they can be a real financial struggle for new families,” said Deanne Desautels, Founder, President and CEO of Accounting & Finance Professionals. “We’re kicking off our year-round partnership with the Diaper Bank of Central Arizona with a $2,500 donation to purchase a pallet of 10,000 diapers.”

According to the National Diaper Bank Network, infants require 12 diapers a day and toddlers need about eight. Disposable diapers can cost between $70-$80 per month, per baby. There is no public assistance available through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP; aka food stamps) or Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) to cover diapers. Those costs add up for families struggling to make ends meet.

As a year-round corporate partner, Accounting & Finance Professionals will be a designated Drop Off site. The recruiting and staffing agency will also help any other company wanting to sponsor or host a diaper bank drive.

“Partnering with Diaper Bank of Central Arizona is crucial for Accounting & Finance Professionals,” added Desautels. “Being a staffing agency, many of our referrals are going to need daycare. Most childcare providers, including subsidized or free centers, require parents to have a supply of disposable diapers (not cloth) for their child to attend. No diapers means no childcare and no work for parents.”

The Diaper Bank of Central Arizona, part of the National Diaper Bank Network, is the only diaper bank in Phoenix focusing solely on acquiring diapers—and then sourcing and serving large and small non-profit valley agencies.

“Right now, one in four Arizona children live below the Federal Poverty Line,” said Gabi Young, President of Diaper Bank of Central Arizona. “With that stat in mind, our goal is to acquire 800,000 diapers in 2021 to help our 27 partner agencies who are facing increased demand for services as many more families find themselves struggling because of the pandemic.”

If any company, large or small, wants to host a diaper bank drive, please call Accounting & Finance Professionals at 602-306-HIRE (4473), or email Deanne Desautels at [email protected].
