Hunkapi Programs, an equine therapy farm located in the heart of Scottsdale, is excited to announce the 8th annual signature Open Your Heart Gala on Saturday, October 22 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The “electric cowboy” themed event celebrates the nonprofit’s mission to serve 300 people weekly with a range of diagnoses through therapeutic horse programs on the historic 10-acre farm. All funds raised will go toward a wide array of services offered by the nonprofit including therapeutic riding, counseling, emotional regulation, somatic experience, and addiction recovery.

Clients who participate in Hunkapi’s different programs include those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, emotional disorder, addiction disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

During the event, emceed by Carey Pena and chaired by Diversified Partners Associate Broker Michelle Cheverie and LivGenerations Senior Living Outreach Director Nicole Carlson, guests will enjoy an exciting live auction hosted by The Auctiontainer™, Letitia Frye, featuring items from local Arizona businesses including an experience at Castle Hot Springs and a puppy from Puppy Luv Animal Rescue. The night will also include engaging speeches by program participants and the program’s executive director, Terra Schaad. The festivities will continue with a delicious dinner presented by 2322, games, a mechanical bull, a best dress contest, photo opportunities with members of the herd and more.

“Every year, this gala is a chance for us to thank the incredible community that supports our mission to provide quality equine therapy to Valley residents who need it the most,” said Schaad. “Our farm is a home to people, animals and everything in between looking for second chances and more importantly, a place to heal.”
