7th Annual 5K for Hope Benefitting Families Raising Hope

This weekend, local non-profit Families Raising Hope is hosting the 7th Annual 5K For Hope, a charity event aimed at supporting families facing the financial challenges of cancer diagnoses. This event will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023, starting at 8am, at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center located at 5600 W. Union Hills Drive, Glendale, AZ 85308.
Founded by Melissa Kovalesky and her husband, Bryan, along with two close friends, Families Raising Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families in Arizona who are navigating the difficult journey of cancer treatment. Inspired by Melissa's own battle with a rare form of Leukemia, which she bravely fought for five years, the organization aims to provide financial assistance to individuals undergoing cancer treatment, allowing them and their families to focus on healing and recovery rather than the burden of expenses.
Since its inception, Families Raising Hope has made a significant impact on the lives of 113 families (over 450 individuals), providing over $228,000 in financial aid. This year alone, they have already distributed $59,000 in crucial assistance.
With the unwavering support of their community of cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers, Families Raising Hope aspires to surpass this achievement in 2023 and provide even more aid to those in need.
The 7th Annual 5K For Hope promises to be a heartwarming event, bringing together individuals who understand the struggles of a cancer diagnosis firsthand. Participants will unite to walk or run the 5K course, demonstrating their solidarity and raising funds to support Families Raising Hope's vital mission. Through the generosity of sponsors, donors, and compassionate community members, the event aims to provide essential funding for housing, living expenses, and ongoing medical treatment for cancer patients.
