Actress Saoirse Ronan has the distinction of being the second youngest actress to receive three Oscar nominations before the age of 24 for her roles in “Atonement,” “Brooklyn” and “Lady Bird,” and earning a fourth nomination last year for “Little Women.” Although she has yet to take home an Oscar, she continues to rake in critical acclaim with each successive film character she portrays. Her most recent film, “The French Dispatch” is set to be released October 22.

Although she is still young in terms of her age, Ronan is a seasoned veteran actress, having been acting since she was a child. She is frequently cast in period pieces and admits that she is drawn to those kinds of roles. “I’m a bit worried now, because everyone keeps saying that!” Ronan told AwardsWatch.com. “There really isn’t anything in particular…I think it’s just by chance that it keeps happening. Hopefully, one of the things I’m doing next year is not period. Depending on the movie, you can be very restricted, but I think the ones that I’ve done, certainly recently, have been me playing a sort of a trailblazer and a rule breaker. So, whenever I’ve been in period pieces, it’s tended to be playing women or girls who are a bit of an outcast.”
