Native Australian actress and two-time Oscar nominee Margot Robbie is no stranger to playing iconic females. In “Mary Queen of Scots,” she portrayed Queen Elizabeth I. In “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” she played starlet actress Sharon Tate. She tackles the most iconic of American characters in her latest film, “Barbie,” which is due to hit theaters July 21.

Robbie came on board the “Barbie” film as a producer, after earlier incarnations of the project were attached to Amy Schumer and then Anne Hathaway but neither version was made. Although Robbie didn’t remember owning any Barbies as a child, she recognized that the film had great potential because the doll is known globally.
