Before there was “Pitch Perfect,” Anna Kendrick was breaking into the mainstream movie scene as supporting character Jessica Stanley in the “Twilight” series. In fact, she says she can’t remember a time before she was serious about acting.

“I can’t now say what it was that originally drew me to performing, because it’s very possible that at 6 it was just that I wanted people to be looking at me and paying attention to me,” she shared in an interview with Fresh Air. “Then it sort of transformed into something that was really meaningful for me… It became the way I learn about myself and the way that I learn about other people.”

But “Twilight” wasn’t the beginning for Kendrick. The 34-year-old actress has been acting since she was a child, performing first on Broadway and earning a Tony nomination for her role in “High Society” when she was 12.
