Actress and activist Angelina Jolie is now starring in new movie, “Maria,” that is now available and steaming on Netflix. The heartbreaking true story renowned opera singer, Maria Callas comes into focus through the acting lens of Jolie. When the film premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival in August 2024, “Maria” received an eight-minute standing ovation, and Jolie’s performance is nearly guaranteed an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a leading role.

Jolie’s name has been one of high praise and of criticism during the last decade for reasons beyond her acting. But this time, she is receiving high praise for her performance and dedication to this role, plus her intense work with other creatives, including the film’s director Pablo Larraín.
