As a way of merging the old with the new, Hawk Salvage is hosting its first annual Artists Showcase on Saturday, April 2 from 6 to 10 p.m., with a grand finale by featured artist, Diana Calderon. Guests will be treated to art in all forms, including a variety of food and beverage offerings, musical performances, artist demonstrations featuring live models, and a thoughtfully chosen display of works from 10 local and national artists, featuring a variety of mediums and styles. All spotlighted artists will be on hand to answer questions and interact with guests, and all art will be available for purchase.
The event will conclude with a moving repetition performance art showcase, “Costrasâ€, by internationally recognized interdisciplinary artist, Diana Calderon. A Mexican immigrant raised in the borderlands of El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, she creates work using bi-national materials from Mexico and the U.S., with a blend of traditional and contemporary techniques such as sculptural installation, public and performance art, and murals. Concepts within her work include an investigation of her ancestral roots, the immigrant journey, human connection, or a lack of connection.
Space is limited for the Hawk Salvage Artists Showcase, and admission to the event is $50 per person. To purchase tickets, http://www.artistsshowcase.eventbrite.com
