“Hunger Action Month” Prompts East Valley Attorneys to Fill Gaps at Local Food Bank

COVID-19 has hit many Arizonans hard, but none harder than those struggling to feed their families. Throughout the month of September, Jacob Fleming and Bob Monroe attorneys at Fleming & Monroe, PLC in Mesa, will donate 25 meals to the United Food Bank for each estate planning package started during the month-long Stand Against Hunger event.

“Learning United Food Bank had lost more than 625,000 pounds of donated food since COVID-19 started was shocking and heartbreaking and we knew we had to take action to help make up for the more than 500,000 meals that have disappeared from people's tables,” said Fleming. “Being able to provide 25 meals for each estate planning package we begin in September is our way of giving back to our community members in need.”

Estate planning service requests have increased 25-30% in the last six months, according to Fleming. People are concerned with mortality because of the global pandemic and want to take a proactive approach to manage finances, property, and family’s needs.

“Now more than ever we have had requests for estate planning,” said Monroe. “COVID-19 has forced people to think about important issues like power of attorney, wills and trusts. Even young families with young children are feeling an urgency to prepare for the future and are making it a priority to get their affairs in order.”

Fleming & Monroe, PLC, prides itself on being an integral part of the community where its employees live and work including Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler, San Tan and Queen Creek. Partnering with United Food Bank in an actionable manner by donating meals to help people in the community, Fleming and Monroe are able to make a real difference in the quality of life for clients and future clients.

Established in 2008, Hunger Action Month is an opportunity for people across the U.S. to unite and bring awareness to the fight to end hunger. Participants are encouraged to take action, volunteer and donate to organizations supporting the cause throughout the month of September for a greater hunger-fighting impact.
